John Swaan to Lead New National Association
January 25, 2006, Prince George, BC – As of this month, John Swaan will assume his new role as Executive Director of the newly formed Wood Pellet Association of Canada (WPAC). As Executive Director of this newly expanded organization, Swaan will be representing the Canadian pellet industry at both national and international levels to further promote wood pellets as an environmentally-friendly and viable form of energy.
“John is uniquely qualified to lead our industry’s much needed advocacy and technical focus going forward,” says Scott Folk, Association Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific BioEnergy Corporation. “With his expertise in manufacturing, marketing, and technology, the interests of the industry will be very well served,” adds Folk.
John Swaan is the founder of Pacific BioEnergy Corporation, formerly PFI Pellet Flame of Prince George, British Columbia, and is an expert in and pioneer of the industry. In 1994, he was responsible for opening Canada’s doors to the world wood pellet export market and has worked toward advancing product technology, transport logistics, and awareness outside the industry.
The Wood Pellet Association of Canada is a non-profit association that serves the pellet producers across Canada, advocating for the industry on a national and international level. The association is active in educating consumers and government about the benefits of wood pellet biomass in both residential and commercial applications as well as advancing product technology.
